Welcome to Ragan’s Friendly Neighbor Store
“Half Furniture, Half Museum, All Friendly”
200 and 202 N. Main Street Downtown Dickson, Tn 37055
Family owned and operated serving western Middle Tennessee since 1962
Born and raised in Dickson County, with deep local roots, Henry V. and Nancy Ragan moved back to Dickson in 1946. It was then that a 26 year old Henry opened his first business, Henry V. Ragan Plumbing and Heating Company. It was located in downtown Dickson near the corner of W. Walnut and S. Main Streets. His 10×10 space included his office, shop, and warehouse. He later founded Ragan & Hamilton General Contractors with his brother-in-law. In 1962, he sold out to his partner and opened the Friendly Neighbor Store. Ragan’s Friendly Neighbor Store continues to serve the public in western Middle Tennessee with furniture, appliances, and mattresses under the management and ownership of the Ragan’s son, Dale Ragan, who has been associated with the business for over 50 years.
The staff invites you to visit the showrooms of the two buildings each with a second showroom floor which continue to display a wide selection of name brand furniture, appliances, mattresses, and appliance repair parts. Special orders, delivery, and financing are available and the store is staffed full time by long serving deliveryman Raymond Tidwell and office manager Donna Parchment (since 1979). Take time to browse the in-house “museum” displaying hundreds of historical local photographs and memorabilia and you are always welcome to use the store’s public restroom and water fountain any time you are shopping in downtown Dickson.
Listen in each Saturday morning at 7:30 AM when Dale Ragan hosts a live radio program, “Weekends on the Highland Rim”, broadcast on local radio station WDKN at 1260 AM, 101.5 FM, and around the world at www.wdkn.com. The program includes news of local interest, the latest obituaries, old time gospel music, community announcements, skits and bits of history, and more.
